CVE-2023-26068 is a critical vulnerability in the embedded web server of multiple Lexmark printer models, caused by improper input validation. The flaw allows an attacker to send specially crafted input to the web server, resulting in remote code execution with the privileges of the web server process. The vulnerability affects a wide range of Lexmark devices with specific firmware versions released before February 19, 2023.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/linux/http/lexmark_faxtrace_settings.rb) targeting a remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability (CVE-2023-26068) in the embedded web server of certain Lexmark devices. The exploit leverages an unauthenticated command injection flaw in the /cgi-bin/fax_change_faxtrace_settings endpoint, which is accessible if no Admin user was created during device setup. The module checks for the presence of the vulnerable endpoint, attempts to wake up the device if necessary, and then sends a crafted POST request to inject and execute arbitrary shell commands. The default payload is a reverse shell using socat, but any command can be executed. The exploit is operational and requires the target to be misconfigured (no admin user) and accessible over the network. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module.
