CVE-2023-27363 is a remote code-execution vulnerability in Foxit PDF Reader's exportXFAData method. The method exposes a JavaScript interface capable of writing arbitrary files. An attacker can induce a target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file and use the flaw to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. The issue was tracked as ZDI-CAN-19697.

This repository is a proof-of-concept exploit for CVE-2023-27363, targeting a vulnerability in PDF readers (notably Adobe Acrobat) that support XFA forms and JScript execution. The main code is a C# Windows Forms application that allows the user to input arbitrary JScript code, which is then embedded into a specially crafted XFA PDF file. The default payload launches 'notepad.exe', but the payload can be customized. The exploit leverages XFA scripting to execute code when the PDF is opened. Notably, the embedded script attempts to write a file ('officeupdate.hta') to the Windows Startup folder, which could be used for persistence. The repository includes Visual Studio project files, resource files, and references to third-party PDF libraries (Aspose.PDF, Syncfusion). The exploit is not weaponized but provides a working POC for code execution via malicious PDF generation.
