CVE-2023-28181 is a kernel-level vulnerability in Apple operating systems that was addressed through improved memory handling. The flaw affects multiple Apple platforms prior to the vendor-fixed releases, including macOS Ventura 13.3, iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4, iOS 15.7.6, iPadOS 15.7.6, macOS Monterey 12.6.4, macOS Big Sur 11.7.7, tvOS 16.4, and watchOS 9.4. Successful exploitation may allow an application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Based on the vendor’s characterization as a memory-handling issue leading to kernel code execution, the weakness is consistent with an out-of-bounds write or closely related memory corruption condition.
