CVE-2023-28354 is a vulnerability in Opsview Monitor Agent 6.8 where the NRPE (Nagios Remote Plugin Executor) interface allows unauthenticated remote attackers to invoke check_nrpe with arbitrary, known NRPE plugins. Due to insecure handling of command control characters, these plugins can pass unsanitized input directly to command-line interpreters. This enables attackers to escape the intended plugin execution context and execute arbitrary commands on the target system with NT_AUTHORITY\SYSTEM privileges.
