SinkClose is a high-severity vulnerability in AMD processors caused by improper validation in a model-specific register used in System Management Mode-related configuration. An attacker who already has Ring 0 privileges can abuse the flaw to modify SMM configuration even when the SMI lock is enabled. This undermines protections intended to isolate System Management Mode and can enable execution of attacker-controlled code in the highly privileged Ring -2 / SMM context. Reported exploitation paths include bypassing or weakening protections around SMRAM and TSeg, which can expose sensitive data and permit persistent low-level compromise.
