CVE-2023-32235 is a directory traversal vulnerability in Ghost before 5.42.1. Affected versions allow remote attackers to read arbitrary files located within the active theme's folder by requesting a crafted path such as /assets/built%2F..%2F..%2F/. The issue occurs in frontend/web/middleware/static-theme.js, where path handling for static theme assets can be abused to traverse directories relative to the expected asset location and access unintended files under the active theme directory.
