CVE-2023-32524 is an improper authentication vulnerability in Trend Micro Mobile Security (Enterprise) 9.8 SP5 through Critical Patch 3 affecting the widgetforsecurity functionality. The flaw stems from trust in user-controlled session state during processing of the widgetforsecurity workflow: the application reads username information from a client-controlled session context and can automatically create a WFUser account with a blank password for a non-existent user, then bind that identity to a valid authenticated PHP session. This behavior allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to bypass authentication to the affected widget components. The vulnerability is particularly dangerous because it can be chained with related unrestricted file upload and local file inclusion flaws in the same application path to achieve pre-authenticated remote code execution.
