CVE-2023-33177 is a path traversal vulnerability in Xibo CMS. The flaw exists in the layout import functionality, where an authenticated user can upload a specially crafted ZIP archive. Due to improper restriction of file paths during extraction or import, files can be written outside the intended CMS library directory with the privileges of the web server user. This allows an attacker to place arbitrary files in attacker-chosen locations reachable by the web application, including uploading a PHP webshell into the web root, which can then be invoked to achieve remote code execution as the web server user.

This repository contains a working exploit for CVE-2023-33177, a Zip Slip (path traversal) vulnerability in Xibo CMS versions 1.8.0 - 2.3.16 and 3.0.0 - 3.3.4. The exploit consists of a Python script ('create_exploit.py') that generates a malicious ZIP file ('exploit.zip') mimicking a valid Xibo layout export. The ZIP contains a specially crafted 'mapping.json' file with a path traversal payload, causing Xibo to extract a PHP webshell ('shell.php') into the web root directory when the ZIP is imported via the CMS interface. The README.md provides detailed instructions, including exploitation steps, the structure of the malicious ZIP, and the webshell's usage. The exploit requires authenticated access to the CMS and results in remote code execution via HTTP requests to the deployed webshell. The repository is well-structured, with clear separation between documentation and exploit code, and provides a minimal, operational payload for post-exploitation access.
