CVE-2023-34051 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in VMware Aria Operations for Logs. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can bypass authentication controls and inject files into the underlying operating system of a vulnerable appliance. This file injection condition can be leveraged to achieve remote code execution on the impacted system.

This repository provides a working exploit for CVE-2023-34051, an authentication bypass in VMware vRealize Log Insight (Aria Operations for Logs), as well as related vulnerabilities (CVE-2022-31706, CVE-2022-31704, CVE-2022-31711). The main exploit script, VMSA-2023-0001.py, is a Python tool that chains multiple vulnerabilities to achieve arbitrary file write on the target system. The exploit works by: 1. Leaking a node token via a Thrift RPC call (CVE-2022-31711). 2. Using the node token to trigger a remote file download from an attacker-controlled HTTP server (CVE-2022-31704). 3. Exploiting a directory traversal to write a cron job payload (CVE-2022-31706). The default payload creates a cron job that opens a reverse shell to the attacker's server using netcat. The repository includes supporting files such as a sample payload, certificates, and Thrift-generated Python code for interacting with the Log Insight RPC interface. The exploit requires the attacker to control an IP address matching a cluster node and to run a local HTTP server to serve the malicious tarball. The structure is typical for a proof-of-concept exploit, with clear separation between the exploit logic, payload, and protocol definitions.
