Certifi versions earlier than 2023.07.22 include e-Tugra root certificates in the bundled TLS trust store. Following security concerns involving e-Tugra’s certificate infrastructure, continued trust in these roots could allow certificates chaining to them to be accepted during TLS peer validation. Certifi 2023.07.22 removes the affected e-Tugra roots from its root store.
