CVE-2023-40167 is an improper HTTP/1 Content-Length parsing issue in Eclipse Jetty. Jetty versions before 9.4.52, 10.0.16, 11.0.16, and 12.0.1 accept a plus sign preceding a Content-Length value. This syntax is not permitted by the HTTP specification and is rejected by many other HTTP servers. The resulting parser discrepancy can create an HTTP request-smuggling condition when Jetty is deployed behind or alongside an intermediary that rejects the request but does not close the connection.
