CVE-2023-41362 is a code injection vulnerability in MyBB before version 1.8.36. Users with certain high privileges can inject arbitrary code via the Admin CP template system. The vulnerability arises because templates in the Admin CP are processed using eval, and although input validation was present, PHP's type juggling in conjunction with PCRE allowed attackers to bypass these checks and execute arbitrary code.

This repository contains an exploit for CVE-2023-41362, a remote code execution vulnerability in MyBB's Admin Control Panel (ACP). The exploit is implemented in a single Python script ('exploit.py') and requires valid admin credentials to the target MyBB instance. The script logs into the ACP, injects a persistent PHP backdoor into the 'online' template, and then allows the attacker to execute arbitrary PHP code on the server by sending base64-encoded payloads via a cookie to the 'online.php' endpoint. The exploit provides an interactive shell, the ability to dump the user table, and to read the MyBB configuration. The repository also includes a brief README. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting the web interface of MyBB. The endpoints involved are the admin login, template editing, and the online.php page for code execution. The exploit is operational and provides real post-exploitation capabilities.
