CVE-2023-44353 is a deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability in Adobe ColdFusion affecting ColdFusion 2023 Update 5 and earlier and ColdFusion 2021 Update 11 and earlier. The issue is associated with ColdFusion's handling of WDDX deserialization and incomplete prior mitigations based on deny-list filtering, which left additional reachable classes and setter methods available to attacker-controlled input. Research indicates an unauthenticated remote attacker can supply crafted serialized data to exposed ColdFusion endpoints and invoke public zero-argument constructors together with public non-static setter methods that accept a single argument. Demonstrated abuse paths included methods that allow file and directory existence checks, outbound network interactions, modification of Central Config Server settings, and in some cases arbitrary code execution. The vulnerability has also been described by the vendor as potentially resulting in arbitrary code execution without requiring user interaction.
