CVE-2023-51780 is a use-after-free race condition in the Linux kernel ATM networking subsystem prior to Linux 6.6.8. The flaw is in do_vcc_ioctl() in net/atm/ioctl.c, where processing of the SIOCINQ ioctl can race with vcc_recvmsg() and access ATM virtual-circuit state after it has been freed. SIOCINQ returns the number of unread bytes in the receive buffer; the race can cause it to operate on stale state and return an invalid buffer-size value.
