CVE-2023-52530 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel mac80211 IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi stack. During GTK rekey handling, ieee80211_gtk_rekey_add() can call ieee80211_key_link(), which may return success-equivalent status after rejecting an identical key reinstallation as part of KRACK protection. The caller could nevertheless return a pointer into the rejected key, leaving a stale pointer that can be dereferenced after the key is freed. The fix returns an error for this condition within ieee80211_gtk_rekey_add() and converts it to success only at the cfg80211 boundary, preventing unsafe use by internal callers.
