CVE-2023-52635 is a race condition in the Linux kernel PM/devfreq subsystem. The devfreq_monitor_start and devfreq_monitor_stop paths did not sufficiently synchronize delayed-work and timer queueing, execution, and cancellation. Frequent governor transitions can cause concurrent cancellation and expiry/requeue activity on the same timer, corrupting timer-list or delayed-work state and resulting in a kernel fault.
