CVE-2023-52700 is a flaw in the Linux kernel Transparent Inter-Process Communication (TIPC) subsystem when constructing connection-control SYN or ACK messages that contain no payload. The TIPC send path initializes an iov_iter without the correct copy direction from the iterator's perspective. Iterator sanity checks introduced by an earlier kernel change detect this invalid state when the message-building path attempts to copy from the iterator, producing a kernel warning and stack trace. The fix initializes the iterator with the proper direction for empty SYN and ACK transmissions.
