CVE-2023-52835 affects the Linux kernel perf/core subsystem's AUX-buffer mmap handling. A request for an excessively large performance-event AUX area can cause perf to allocate the AUX-page pointer array before validating that the array size is representable within the kernel allocator's physically contiguous allocation limit. When the required pointer array exceeds the MAX_ORDER constraint, the allocation path emits an __alloc_pages() warning and ultimately fails. The fix adds an early bounds check and returns -ENOMEM for an out-of-range AUX-area request.
