CVE-2023-52974 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel iSCSI TCP transport. During iSCSI software TCP session creation, allocation of the R2T pool can fail after the session becomes exposed through the SCSI host IP-address attribute. If userspace concurrently reads that attribute and the kernel tears down the failed session, the session object can be freed while it remains in use. The fix delays assignment of the TCP software host session reference until session creation has completed successfully and can no longer fail.
