CVE-2023-53226 is an out-of-bounds memory-access and integer-underflow vulnerability in the Linux kernel mwifiex Wi-Fi driver’s received-packet processing. Insufficient bounds validation can allow processing paths, including management-frame, station RX, micro-AP RX, bridged-packet queueing, and general RX handling, to access data beyond the socket-buffer data region. The fix adds validation to prevent these paths from accessing packet data outside the available buffer.
