CVE-2023-53232 is a NULL-pointer dereference in the Linux kernel mt76 MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi driver. Residual EEPROM parsing logic remained after the driver transitioned to obtaining NIC capabilities through the MCU and could access unallocated eeprom.data. During MT7921 firmware initialization and PCI-device probing, this invalid memory access can fault in mt7921_mcu_parse_response and panic the kernel. The corrective change removes the obsolete mt7921_mcu_parse_eeprom path and uses mt7921_mcu_parse_response for RxD-header processing.
