CVE-2023-53680 is an out-of-bounds array-access vulnerability in the Linux kernel NFS server daemon (NFSD) NFSv4 COMPOUND request decoding path. The nfsd4_decode_compound() function can pass OP_ILLEGAL, operation number 10044, to OPDESC(). OPDESC() indexes the nfsd4_ops[] operation-descriptor table directly and does not range-check its operation-number argument. Because OP_ILLEGAL is beyond the bounds of that table, this produces an out-of-bounds access.
