CVE-2023-53751 is a potential use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel CIFS subsystem involving TCP_Server_Info::hostname. Reconnect operations can update the hostname repeatedly, while accesses outside the reconnect path lack adequate protection against those updates. This can result in access to freed hostname memory. The fix protects hostname access outside the reconnect path.
