A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel ip6_vti subsystem affects IPv6 VTI packet transmission. The flaw occurs in the interaction between ip6_vti transmission and decode_session6 when an ipv6_vti device is configured with an sfb queueing discipline. During enqueuing, the skb control buffer can be modified, but decode_session6 later consumes state derived from that buffer even though xfrm_decode_session was originally intended for the receive path and IP6CB(skb)->nhoff is not initialized for transmission. This can result in a slab use-after-free read in decode_session6 while the device is sending IPv6 packets. The upstream fix clears the skb control buffer before transmission to prevent stale or invalid control-buffer state from being interpreted on the transmit path.
