CVE-2023-54035 is an integer-underflow flaw in the Linux kernel netfilter nf_tables component. During set-element addition error handling, chain references were decremented twice: once during element release and again through nft_data_release(). A prior attempted correction removed decrementing for stateful-object references; the resolved logic restores that decrement while ensuring that nft_data_release() decrements the chain reference counter only once.
