CVE-2023-5815 is a remote code execution vulnerability in the News & Blog Designer Pack – WordPress Blog Plugin affecting all versions up to and including 3.4.1. The flaw is present in the bdp_get_more_post function, which is exposed through a nopriv AJAX action and therefore reachable without authentication. The vulnerable code unsafely uses PHP extract() on attacker-controlled POST data and then passes attacker-influenced input to include(), creating a local file inclusion condition. This allows an unauthenticated attacker to cause the application to include arbitrary PHP files available on the server, which can lead to remote code execution. The provided context also notes that on vulnerable Docker configurations an attacker may be able to create a PHP file and subsequently include it to obtain code execution.
