CVE-2024-1635 is an uncontrolled resource-consumption vulnerability in Undertow servers supporting the wildfly-http-client protocol. During an HTTP upgrade to remoting, if a client opens an HTTP connection and closes it immediately, a RemotingConnection closed by Remoting ServerConnectionOpenListener does not notify Undertow's outer connection layer. Consequently, WriteTimeoutStreamSinkConduit retains the connection through its timeout task, which is referenced by an XNIO WorkerThread. Repeated malformed connection lifecycles leak connection-associated objects, memory, and file descriptors.
