CVE-2024-21140 is a difficult-to-exploit vulnerability in the HotSpot component of Oracle Java SE, Oracle GraalVM for JDK, and Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition. The affected releases are Oracle Java SE 8u411, 8u411-perf, 11.0.23, 17.0.11, 21.0.3, and 22.0.1; Oracle GraalVM for JDK 17.0.11, 21.0.3, and 22.0.1; and Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition 20.3.14 and 21.3.10. An unauthenticated network attacker can exploit the issue through multiple protocols when an application exposes affected HotSpot APIs, such as through a web service that supplies attacker-controlled data to those APIs. The issue also affects Java client deployments that execute untrusted code in sandboxed Java Web Start applications or Java applets and rely on the Java sandbox for isolation.
