CVE-2024-21147 is a difficult-to-exploit vulnerability in the HotSpot component of Oracle Java SE, Oracle GraalVM for JDK, and Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition. The flaw affects Oracle Java SE 8u411, 8u411-perf, 11.0.23, 17.0.11, 21.0.3, and 22.0.1; GraalVM for JDK 17.0.11, 21.0.3, and 22.0.1; and GraalVM Enterprise Edition 20.3.14 and 21.3.10. An unauthenticated network attacker may exploit the affected APIs through multiple protocols, including where a web service supplies attacker-controlled data to those APIs. It also affects client-side Java deployments that execute untrusted sandboxed Java Web Start applications or applets and rely on the Java sandbox for isolation.
