CVE-2024-21490 is a regular expression denial-of-service vulnerability in AngularJS packages published as angular and angularjs, affecting versions starting from 1.3.0. The issue is in a regular expression used to split and parse the value of the ng-srcset directive. Because the expression is susceptible to super-linear runtime caused by excessive backtracking, an attacker can supply a large, carefully crafted ng-srcset value that triggers catastrophic backtracking during processing. This can consume disproportionate CPU resources and degrade or block application responsiveness. The affected package is end-of-life and is not expected to receive a security update.
