CVE-2024-21823 is a hardware logic vulnerability involving insecure de-synchronization in Intel Data Streaming Accelerator (DSA) and Intel In-Memory Analytics Accelerator (IAA) components on some 4th- and 5th-generation Intel Xeon processors. The issue is exposed through the Linux kernel dmaengine/idxd driver when an untrusted application has direct access to the affected accelerator hardware. An authorized local user may potentially exploit the erratum to escalate privileges.
