CVE-2024-2201 is a cross-privilege Spectre v2 Branch History Injection (BHI) vulnerability affecting susceptible Intel processors running Linux. An attacker can manipulate branch-history state to induce speculative control-flow redirection to a selected disclosure gadget in privileged kernel context. The condition bypasses deployed Spectre v2 mitigations, including FineIBT, enabling speculative disclosure of otherwise protected kernel memory.
