CVE-2024-24578 is a critical unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in RaspberryMatic, an open-source IoT operating system for HomeMatic devices. The flaw resides in the Java-based HMIPServer.jar component, specifically in the FirmwareController class, which fails to enforce session validation for endpoints under /pages/jpages. Attackers can exploit this by uploading a malicious .tgz archive via the web interface, leveraging a Zip Slip (directory traversal) vulnerability to overwrite arbitrary files on the filesystem. The most common exploitation method is to overwrite the watchdog script in /usr/local/addons/mediola/bin, which is executed as root by cron every five minutes, leading to persistent root-level code execution. The vulnerability is trivially exploitable, requires no authentication, and is present in the default configuration. It affects all RaspberryMatic versions up to 3.73.9.20240130 and is patched in 3.75.6.20240316.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting CVE-2024-24578, an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in RaspberryMatic (<= 3.73.9.20240130). The exploit abuses a Zip Slip vulnerability in the firmware upload functionality at '/pages/jpages/system/DeviceFirmware/addFirmware', allowing an attacker to upload a crafted .tgz archive that overwrites the 'watchdog' script in '/usr/local/addons/mediola/bin/'. This script is executed by cron as root, resulting in arbitrary command execution with root privileges. The module supports custom command payloads, with a default Meterpreter reverse shell. The exploit checks the target's version via '/config/help.cgi' and restores the original watchdog script after exploitation to reduce forensic evidence. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module, making it easy to use within the Metasploit framework.
