CVE-2024-26671 is a race condition in the Linux kernel block multiqueue (blk-mq) subsystem. In blk_mq_mark_tag_wait(), addition of a waiter to the wait queue may be reordered relative to a subsequent attempt to acquire a driver tag. If tag acquisition fails, the sbitmap wakeup path can test the queue before the waiter is observable, wake no waiters, and leave the I/O operation unable to obtain a driver tag. The resulting lost wakeup can indefinitely stall I/O.
