CVE-2024-26675 is an improper resource-limit vulnerability in the Linux kernel asynchronous PPP driver. The ppp_async_ioctl handler accepted arbitrarily large Maximum Receive Unit (MRU) values through the PPPIOCSMRU ioctl without applying the 64 KB sanity limit already used elsewhere in PPP handling. A subsequently received PPP frame could cause ppp_async input processing to attempt an oversized socket-buffer allocation, reaching an invalid page-allocation order and triggering a kernel warning. The fix rejects MRU values exceeding 64 KB.
