CVE-2024-26783 is an invalid index validation flaw in the Linux kernel memory-management vmscan subsystem. With NUMA balancing enabled, a NUMA node without local managed memory can yield a zone index of -1. The misplaced-page migration path passed this invalid index to wakeup_kswapd(), causing invalid memory access and a kernel-mode page fault/oops. The upstream fix validates the zone index before invoking wakeup_kswapd().
