CVE-2024-26837 is a race condition in the Linux kernel bridge switchdev multicast database (MDB) offload path. While constructing an MDB replay list, the bridge could concurrently create a new multicast membership through IGMP/MLD snooping or administrative configuration. The new membership was immediately visible in the bridge MDB list, but its switchdev notification could still be queued for deferred delivery. A replay generated during this interval could therefore duplicate the pending membership-addition notification. Hardware-offload drivers that reference-count MDB memberships, including DSA drivers, could retain an unmatched reference because bridge destruction emits only one deletion notification. The fix serializes replay-list generation with the MDB write-side lock and excludes additions already queued for deferred switchdev notification.
