CVE-2024-26840 is a memory leak in the Linux kernel CacheFiles subsystem involving cachefiles_add_cache(). References to the cache_cred credential object are not released during cachefiles_daemon_unbind() and on an error path in cachefiles_add_cache(), leaving allocated kernel memory unreclaimed. The issue was observed after unbinding the CacheFiles device.
