CVE-2024-26852 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel IPv6 routing subsystem. During IPv6 multipath route addition, route notification processing can access fib6_info state after it has been released. The flaw affects the lifetime ordering around ip6_route_mpath_notify(): fib6_info_release() could occur before route notification completed, allowing notification serialization to dereference freed route data. The upstream fix defers fib6_info release until the cleanup phase after multipath-route notification.
