CVE-2024-26870 is a Linux kernel NFSv4.2 flaw in nfs4_listxattr() caused by improper handling of a caller-supplied nonzero extended-attribute buffer size. When earlier xattr enumeration consumes the entire supplied buffer and a subsequent NFSv4 user-label enumeration is invoked with zero remaining space, the function can return a total length greater than the original buffer size rather than returning ERANGE. The oversized result reaches the listxattr user-copy path and triggers a hardened usercopy kernel BUG at mm/usercopy.c:102. The fix verifies that, for a nonzero supplied size, a result larger than that size is rejected with ERANGE.
