CVE-2024-26897 is an initialization race in the Linux kernel ath9k_htc USB Wi-Fi driver. The device can become visible to the USB subsystem before ath9k driver initialization has completed, allowing ath9k_wmi_event_tasklet() to run while driver data structures are not fully initialized. A prior partial fix gated only WMI transmit-status event handling; other WMI event types could still enter the tasklet prematurely. The complete fix defers all ath9k_wmi_event_tasklet() processing until ath9k_htc_probe_device() has completed initialization.
