CVE-2024-26901 is an information-disclosure vulnerability in the Linux kernel file-handle lookup path. do_sys_name_to_handle() allocated memory with kmalloc() and subsequently copied a structure containing uninitialized trailing bytes to userspace. Consequently, the userspace result could contain residual kernel heap data. The upstream fix replaces the allocation with kzalloc(), ensuring the allocated buffer is zero-initialized before data is returned.
