CVE-2024-26907 affects the Linux kernel RDMA mlx5 driver’s Ethernet work-queue-element construction path. In mlx5_ib_post_send(), a memcpy operation copies an inline Ethernet header beginning at the start member of the inline-header substructure. The copy can extend beyond that member’s declared two-byte bounds, causing FORTIFY_SOURCE to report a field-spanning write while posting a send work request. The upstream correction changes the Ethernet-segment access pattern to avoid the invalid subobject-bound interpretation.
