CVE-2024-26925 is an improper-locking race condition in the Linux kernel Netfilter nf_tables subsystem. In the transaction abort path, the commit mutex could be temporarily released between nft_gc_seq_begin() and nft_gc_seq_end() while nf_tables module dependencies were loaded. An asynchronous garbage-collection worker could then collect expired objects and acquire the commit lock within the same garbage-collection sequence. The correction defers the temporary mutex release until after nft_gc_seq_end() completes.
