CVE-2024-26933 is a deadlock in the Linux kernel USB core's handling of the port-level "disable" sysfs attribute. Its show and store callbacks acquire the parent hub device lock. Concurrent hub removal or configuration change removes the hub interface and its port devices; device_del() then waits for active sysfs callbacks to finish while retaining the lock required by the callback. The callback cannot return until it obtains that lock, resulting in deadlock. The fix breaks sysfs active protection before acquiring the hub lock, preventing device removal from waiting on the callback, and obtains a hub reference beforehand to prevent use of a deallocated hub structure.
