CVE-2024-26964 is a flaw in the Linux kernel USB xHCI driver's xhci_map_urb_for_dma() function. When mapping a USB request block that requires scatter-gather data to be copied into a temporary linear DMA buffer, the function did not check whether kzalloc_node() successfully allocated that buffer. On allocation failure, it continued to call sg_pcopy_to_buffer() with a NULL destination pointer, causing a NULL pointer dereference. The fix detects allocation failure and returns -ENOMEM before attempting the copy.
