CVE-2024-27399 is a race condition in the Linux kernel Bluetooth L2CAP subsystem. l2cap_chan_del() can delete an L2CAP channel and set its connection pointer to NULL while asynchronous l2cap_chan_timeout() processing is still executing. The timeout handler can subsequently dereference that cleared connection pointer while attempting to acquire its mutex, causing a kernel NULL pointer dereference. The issue is fixed upstream in Linux kernel 6.9 and has been backported by multiple vendors.
