CVE-2024-27415 is a race condition in Linux kernel netfilter bridge handling of multicast and broadcast IP packets. A packet traversing bridge netfilter prerouting can receive a reference to an unconfirmed conntrack entry. When the bridge clones the packet and an upper-layer consumer such as macvlan retains clones for deferred transmission, the cloned sk_buffs share that same unconfirmed conntrack entry. The normal LOCAL_IN conntrack-confirmation path can then race with processing of the retained clone. The affected conntrack confirmation logic cannot safely handle concurrent confirmation involving cloned packets that reference one unconfirmed entry. The upstream fix explicitly confirms the conntrack entry at LOCAL_IN before upper-layer handling can clone it; this behavior disables NAT and conntrack helpers for the affected path.
