CVE-2024-3183 is a FreeIPA Kerberos vulnerability involving TGS-REQ processing. Although the TGS-REQ is encrypted with a per-session client session key, the ticket carried by the request is encrypted directly with the target principal key. For user principals, that key is derived from the user password and a public, randomly generated per-principal salt. An attacker who compromises a principal can retrieve tickets encrypted for other principals and use the tickets and salts in offline brute-force attempts to identify passwords capable of decrypting those tickets.

This repository provides a proof-of-concept (POC) exploit for CVE-2024-3183, a vulnerability in FreeIPA (Kerberos) that allows a low-privileged user to obtain password hashes (Kerberos TGS tickets) for all domain users, enabling offline brute-force attacks (Kerberoasting). The repository contains three files: a README.md with detailed exploitation steps and usage instructions, a crypto.py file implementing cryptographic routines (adapted from impacket), and a main.py script that attempts to brute-force a TGS ticket using a list of candidate passwords and a known salt. The exploit requires patching impacket to enable extraction of the necessary information, and then uses the provided script to attempt password recovery. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting Kerberos authentication in FreeIPA environments. No hardcoded network endpoints are present, but file paths related to impacket and Kerberos tracing are referenced. The exploit is operational, providing a working brute-force script for offline password recovery.
