CVE-2024-33599 is a stack-based buffer overflow in the GNU C Library Name Service Cache Daemon (nscd) netgroup-cache handling. Introduced in glibc 2.15 with the fixed-size nscd cache, the flaw occurs when client requests exhaust that cache and a subsequent client request retrieves netgroup data. The vulnerability is present only in the nscd binary, not in glibc clients generally.
